How therapy helps: three simple steps
1. You start to understand yourself.
Not in a vague way. The specific reasons you react the way you do, get stuck where you get stuck, and end up back in the same place. Once you can see it clearly, it stops running the show.
2. The patterns loosen.
The thing you keep doing, the argument you keep having, the feeling you keep outrunning. We work out where it comes from and how to do it differently, so it has less grip on your life.
3. You don't have to carry it alone.
For the length of a session, someone is genuinely paying attention to you, with no agenda except helping you make sense of things. For a lot of people that's the first time in years.
  • Warm welcome
Reaching out to a therapist is a strange, vulnerable thing to do, and if you've read this far you've already done the hard part. So, hello. I'm glad you're here.
  • Professional Credentials
I'm Dr Derek Nasseri, a psychotherapist registered with the UKCP. I've been in practice since 2014 and hold a professional doctorate. The letters matter, but what matters more is whether you feel understood, and that's what the first conversation is for.
  • How I work
I won't sit there nodding cryptically. I'm a real person in the room with you, warm and direct, and I'll say what I actually think when it helps. Therapy with me is a conversation, not an interrogation.
  • Who I work with
People come to me exhausted, anxious, grieving, stuck in the same patterns, or just carrying something heavy they've never said out loud. Whatever it is, you won't shock me, and you won't have to have it neatly worded before you arrive.
